Don’t Miss The Unite Rutgers Race
The Unite Rutgers Race is the most exciting half marathon in New Jersey and possibly the country. Each year scores of runners and fans
fill the course and its sidelines. This year’s race is presented by United Healthcare and will be held on April 12, 2015 across the New Brunswick Campus. The 21K course is challenging for runners while measuring just half the distance of a typical marathon. Early registration is encouraged as the race sells out quickly. Through October 25th, the cost is $75 for the half marathon ($46 for
students) and $45 for the 8K race. It is best to arrive early on race day.
The half marathon is scheduled to begin promptly at 8am and the shorter 8K will start fifteen minutes later. The rules are clear as well
as the limitations. To participate, runners must be healthy, be 13 years or older, must sign a waiver, and be able to finish the race at
or under 3.5 hours. Runners will be asked to present their photo identification before being given a race number bib and a timing chip or
All participants will run with a chip, attached to the shoe, or with a tag that is attached to the race number bib. Technology has found
its way into racing because of its truth in determining a runners time. The start and finish are clear and the times cannot be altered.
To help with the race and all its activities, volunteers are needed and appreciated.
Volunteer opportunities abound and donations can be made to a named charity based on groups of volunteers. Each year the Unite Rutgers
Race makes generous donations to organizations that have provided a team of 10 volunteers or more.
